SEND UNIT

Our SEND Unit at Westleigh Methodist Primary School

Our SEND Unit at Westleigh Methodist Primary School provides specialist provision for children with autism and associated cognition and learning needs.

The unit is fully integrated into school life and is part of our loving and inclusive Westleigh family, where every child is nurtured, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. Rooted in our Christian vision — “With God all things are possible” — we strive to ensure every child is able to thrive and succeed from their own starting point.

Our SEND Unit offers the best of both worlds:

  • Specialist teaching within a nurturing and structured environment
  • Carefully planned opportunities for inclusion within mainstream classes

Children learn in a small, supportive setting with experienced staff who understand their individual needs. Personalised learning pathways, structured routines and carefully designed spaces help create a secure base where pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

Alongside this specialist provision, pupils are supported to take part in the wider life of the school and selected mainstream lessons, enabling them to build relationships, develop independence and feel fully part of our school community.

As a school, we believe strong partnerships with families are essential. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure every child receives the right support and makes meaningful progress.

Places within the unit are allocated by the Local Authority through the EHCP process.

Our SEND Unit reflects the heart of Westleigh Methodist Primary School — a nurturing, inclusive environment where children are supported to flourish, grow in confidence and achieve their full potential.
